wild animals don't get traumatized...

why do humans?

In 1976, a school bus carrying 26 children was hijacked in California.

The kids were buried underground and held for ransom.

What happened next forever changed how we understand trauma—and healing.

For most of the children, the experience left lasting scars. But one boy, Bob Barklay, emerged resilient, healthy, and seemingly untouched.

What set him apart? Bob was the only child that took action.

He devised an escape plan, rallied the group to dig their way out, and led the children to safety.

This single act of mobilization didn’t just save the other children’s lives—it shielded Bob from the full impact of the traumatic event.

It allowed his body to complete its natural “fear cycles,” instead of getting stuck in them.

Peter Levine, a trauma expert, explains that trauma leaves the body in a “frozen” state:

It’s like pressing the gas pedal while the car is in park—the energy (gas) has nowhere to go.

So, this survival energy, meant for fight or flight, gets trapped and lingers as anxiety, PTSD, or chronic stress.

While most of the kids were immobilized by fear, Bob’s actions allowed his nervous system to complete its natural cycle, releasing the energy instead of storing it.

His story proves that trauma isn’t just about what happens to us—it’s about how we respond.

When we take even the smallest action, we reclaim our power and remind our nervous system that we are safe.

This is the beauty of The BodyMind Rewind.

It’s simple and designed to help you release the stress and overwhelm trapped in your body—without reliving the past memories or spending a ridiculous amount on therapy.

By gently mobilizing your nervous system, you can free old, stagnant energy and reclaim your vitality.

Because, like Bob, the first step to freedom is believing its possible.

With love and healing,
