why does this always happen to you

The other day, my girlfriend asked me:

"Why does this always happen to you?"

By "this," she meant the way complete strangers regularly approach me for a chat while we’re in public.

To be honest, it freaks her out a bit.

Usually they say something completely random—unrelated to me, her, or the situation we're in.

It is rather odd, and finally she couldn’t hold it in any longer:

"Why does this happen to you so often?"

"Because my broadcast network signal is set to OPEN FOR ENGAGEMENT," I replied.

I don’t cross my arms or avoid eye contact. I smile, acknowledge people as we share space, and my energy naturally invites them in, even if just for a moment.

It’s really that simple (and yet, it’s so hard).

When you invite others into your world, they respond.

Signaling that you're OPEN FOR ENGAGEMENT is a polarizing act. It tells the universe you're ready to collaborate, ready to see the world as a partner.

It’s a symbiotic relationship.

Dance, play, shake, and move with the world—and she’ll treat you well in return.

However, to truly embrace this gift, we have to let go of the pain and regret from old memories, past decisions, and relationships...

But that’s a conversation for another day.

This is just a reminder to let the world impact you.

It’s the only way you’ll impact the world.
